As the title already suggests, inspiration doesn’t just fall from the sky onto your lap. I do wish it was that easy, but like anything, you have to put time and effort into it for it to prosper.
There are two things I believe you should practice, and those are consistency and novelty.
Consistency is essential when it comes to keeping yourself inspired. Doing a little dose of creative work every day will significantly improve your creativity. You don’t have to paint a masterpiece every day. Just do small sketches as a daily sketchbook journal or go for a walk and take in the beautiful nature around you. It is up to you on what consistency looks like, but I promise that a little every day will eventually add up to be something you have never thought of before.
Novelty is something new, original, or unusual by definition. Changing things up once in a while helps to spur your creativity. Practicing novelty looks like going to a new restaurant that you’ve never been to before or traveling to see a show that intrigues you. It doesn’t necessarily have to cost money, but it has to be something you don’t do on the regular.
There are many things you can do to help yourself be inspired more, but I believe that consistency and novelty are the foundation for building a creative mind. Start with something small and do a little of that each day. Track your progress and celebrate when you reach your goals!
